Charles Cramer will lead an interactive lecture and demonstration that will present tools and techniques for refining your film or digital camera images, with the goal of making prints that are more
effective and compelling. Specific techniques will be demonstrated for maximizing the results with both Lightroom and Photoshop. Each participant will receive a printed handout and
accompanying CD that includes the demonstration files.
This workshop will address some of these common questions:
Lightroom (this also refers to Adobe Camera RAW, as their developing capabilities are essentially identical)
- If I use Lightroom, do I need Photoshop?
- What Lightroom can and can't do
- What image corrections do I do in Lightroom, and what do I do in Photoshop?
- Optimizing detail in both shadows and highlights
Photoshop
- Effective techniques for using Photoshop
- Working with very dark or very light images
- "Orchestrating" the light
- Techniques to make your prints "glow"
Other topics will include choosing a printer, choosing an inkjet paper, printing in B&W, and other questions and (possibly) answers.
For those who can bring laptop computers with Photoshop and/or Lightroom, example files will be given out so participants can follow along. If you don't have a laptop, the workshop will also work as well as a lecture/demonstration.
